INSTALLATION
The NST-22A Series Free Floating Traps with Air Vent will remove air and other gases from systems or piping systems without allowing the contained liquid to escape. The valve and seat, inside the NST-22A, are connected to a stainless steel float. When there is no liquid in the body of the NST-22A the float is at the bottom and the valve is in open position, allowing air or other gases in the systems or piping system to escape. When liquids enter the NST-22A, the float rises, forcing the valve plug into the valve seat, which closes the valve and prevents the liquids from escaping.
1.The NST-22A should be properly sized and properly located in the system. The inlet piping should be the same size as the piping connection on the body, and a full port valve should be installed a head of the air eliminator.
2.Do not exceed the maximum allowable pressures and temperatures noted on the label of the NST-22A body. Also, check to see if the air eliminator has the proper maximum differential pressure for your particular application.
3.The NST-22A should be located at the highest point in the system or vessel where air can collect. The air eliminator must be installed, vertical, and with the inlet at the bottom. Make sure that the air eliminator is mounted in the proper direction, with the flow arrow on the body. This will allow the float mechanism to operate properly. Valves should be installed for ease of maintenance.
4. We recommend piping the discharge to a safe visible point or drain.
5.Adhere to good piping practices by properly cleaning all piping before installing the NST-22A. Clean the pipes by flushing to remove loose dirt. A strainer in the line leading to the air eliminator is recommended.
6.The inlet and outlet piping should be the same size as the NST-22A’s connections. Do not reduce the size of the inlet on light loads; however, smaller pipe or tubing may be used on the outlet. Keep the piping as short as possible, with a minimum of valves and fittings.
7.Install gate valves or full ported ball valves (Do Not Use Globe Valves) so the NST-22A can be isolated from the system to permit servicing.
MAINTENANCE
The NST-22A Series is a maintenance free valve, composed of corrosion resistant components. No need for gaskets or adjustments .
